Welcome to Meemure Aranya Senasanaya

Nestled in the serene forest hills of Meemure, our aranya is a place of stillness and devotion — a refuge for those who seek the calm of the Dhamma. Here, the rhythm of monastic life follows the teachings of the Buddha: mindfulness, generosity, and loving-kindness.

Lay devotees and pilgrims are warmly welcomed to take part in daily pujas, observe sil, join guided meditation, and offer dana to the resident Sangha. Every act of devotion offered here is a step on the noble path toward inner peace.

Our Story

About Meemure

Hidden deep within the Knuckles mountain range, Meemure is one of Sri Lanka's most remote villages — a place where life still follows age-old traditions beneath the peak of Lakegala, encircled by the UNESCO-listed Knuckles Conservation Forest. It is within this serene valley that our aranya makes its home.

“Among the mist-clad peaks of the Knuckles, time slows, the mind settles, and the heart remembers stillness.”— On the village of Meemure
